significant project focused on Waste Management
In March 2022, the Lions Clubs Egypt’ Environment Committee launched a significant project focused on Waste Management and Recycling Facilities at Abou el Rich hospital for children in Cairo. Partnering with El Arabia Co for waste management, the committee conducted a feasibility study to determine the necessary waste boxes and sizes for distribution throughout the hospital. The project, which aims to segregate and recycle various types of waste on a daily basis, has already made a positive impact. By installing over 100 boxes of different sizes and donating toys to sick children, the committee has shown its dedication to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability among patients and their families.
green initiatives by planting trees
In May 2023, the Environment Committee of District 352 Egypt continued its green initiatives by planting trees at schools in the area. Working closely with the Educational Administration of El Mokattam, the committee planted a variety of trees, including fruit-bearing and aesthetic fence trees. With support from the Environmental Ministry and collaboration with an arboretum and agricultural engineer, the committee successfully planted over 1000 trees at schools and orphanages. These efforts not only contribute to the government’s strategy of promoting greenery but also highlight the importance of sustainability and waste management in the community.
campaign to raise environmental and social awareness
Starting in February 2024, the Environmental Committee expanded its campaign to raise environmental and social awareness in government and private schools. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, students learned about the importance of sustainability and its connection to waste management and recycling. The students also demonstrated their creativity by creating artistic forms from collected plastic, which will be showcased in an upcoming exhibition organized by the Educational Administration. These initiatives reflect the Lions Clubs’ commitment to making a positive impact on the community and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and awareness.
Hosting Lions international conferences in Egypt
When years of dedicated effort and sacrifice are crowned with a remarkable and unprecedented year, it is a source of pride for all of us in District 352. Such was the case with the Lions year 2016-2017, an exceptional period for District 352 in Egypt, under the leadership of the late former governor, Engineer Mostafa Shawky.
During that time, the district hosted for the first time in its history two major regional Lions Clubs conferences, namely the All Africa and the Mediterranean Forum.
These events were graced by the presence of the then International President and the First Vice President of Lions Clubs International, as well as several current and past international directors, and Lions leaders and governors from various Mediterranean and African countries.
The Africa Forum was held at the Marriott Hotel in Cairo, along the banks of the Nile River. The Mediterranean Forum took place in Egypt’s second capital, Alexandria, the Bride of the Mediterranean, at the Four Seasons Hotel, overlooking some of the world’s most beautiful beaches in Alexandria.
Furthermore, District 352 – Egypt hosted the All Arab Forum once again in January 2023, under the leadership of former governor Engineer Mohamed Bedair, and Conference Chairwoman, former governor Mrs. Nagwa El-Shweikh.
The Arab League headquarters provided a fitting venue for the conference’s opening activities, attended by former international director Dr. Ahmed Salem, and featured notable participation from Lions Club leaders and governors across Arab countries.
Lions Clubs International Foundation contribution in the Egyptian Community.
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is your large charity that includes Lions members from around the world, and it is the outstretched hand to serve humanity, which draws a smile on the lips of young and old for every human being who needs help.
It is the tool that changes human lives for the better. It is hope.
It is the ability to defy the odds, while it is now in its fifty-sixth year.
It has given a decent life to millions through grants worth more than one million dollars in District 352 Egypt of 1.1 billion dollars so far worldwide.
Curing childhood cancers, alleviating the suffering of diabetics, supporting young people through the Lions Quest program, preserving sight and sight first, providing food for every hungry mouth, preserving the environment in which we live to be a livable environment, mitigating the effects of natural disasters around the world, not only that, but for everything that is human that serves humans.
But why do we give it to LCIF? Is it because it is the largest NGO institution for civil work in the world? Or because it is internationally classified as the best civil work institution according to the classifications of the largest scientific and international
centers? Or because what we give reaches those who deserve it in full without any inquiries, whether administrative expenses or otherwise? Finally, is it because it is our comprehensive civil society to which we all belong? Your gifts to LCIF bring more services and support to humanity in our Third World than you expect, and rest assured that they are counted for you with your Lord, as
they do not differentiate between the needy in terms of sex, color or creed, but rather they are good gifts for all humanity.
