Sight For Kids

District 352-Egypt is dedicated to support the underprivileged students, focusing on improving their vision.
Through collaboration with key government authorities, the district leadership team has embraced the “Sight For Kids” program in Egypt.
This initiative, launched in 2023, aims to tackle optical health issues faced by students in Egypt, especially in rural areas. SFK was successfully executed in Menoufia and Gharbia governorates in Q4 2023 & Q2 2024.
An extensive assessment of K402 students across 643 schools revealed 18,500 students with visual impairments.
With generous support from the LCIF and Johnson & Johnson, specialized medical examinations have begun, conducted by a team of expert ophthalmologists and opticians utilizing cutting-edge equipment.
Twenty-four central schools have been transformed into field eye hospitals to facilitate examinations for students from neighboring schools, averaging 25schools per day.
Following screenings, 2,900 children have received an instant necessary treatments, and 4,200 have been
provided with spectacles.
Students were offered a variety of 24 spectacles models and colors to choose from, which had a positive emotional impact.
One hundred fifty students have been referred for advanced medical interventions, including surgical procedures at a specialized eye hospital in Cairo.
Moreover, 1,000 teachers have received lectures and informative materials on visual issues and prevention methods to enhance their health awareness and help students avoid eye diseases.
This journey of compassion and impact is just beginning.
With the support of LCIF and Johnson & Johnson, Lions of Egypt aspire to expand the SFK project to reach the majority of rural primary school students in Egypt within the next three years, fostering positive change in the lives of Egyptian children.
